If you do not have a burner available and will need to put a movie file on a DVD disk, then it will still be possible to accomplish this with an alternative procedure. This procedure will require you to have a separate recording device. Movies create big files so the procedure may take some time to accomplish.
- Install a video card with output capabilities. This procedure requires you to have a separate device. You will need a DVD recorder in order to transfer your movie to a DVD disk. Your computer must have a graphic card with output capabilities to send out your movie to the other device.
- Hook up the DVD recorder to your graphics card. Attach the separate DVD recorder to your video card by plugging in the cable to the video card's output. The other end of the cable hooks up to the DVD recorder's input.
- Put the DVD recorder on stand by. Make sure the DVD recorder device is turned on and the recorder is on standby.
- Play your movie file on your computer. You can use any available media player application installed in your computer. You will be recording or sending out your movie file to the other device in real time so you will have to play the length of the movie. Make sure you activate the recording device once your movie file plays. The separate device will now record your movie on to the DVD disk directly. Make sure all connections are secure so as not to affect the quality of the movie being recorded.
- Review the movie file on your computer. Once you've recorded the entire movie length on your separate DVD recorder, put in the DVD disk on the computer's DVD ROM drive and play it in your media application. See if there are no pauses or disturbances in the video. Check if the audio is clear and has no drop outs. If you are unhappy with the results you may have to repeat the process again.
This process is for those who may have DVD ROMs but do not have burning capabilities. There are disadvantages for this procedure though; you will have to play the whole length of the movie since it can only be done in real time. The quality of the video may change during the recording process.
Quick Tips:
- Make sure no other program is running on your computer except the media player during the recording process.
- Make sure all connections are plugged in properly and try to stay clear from the keyboard as you may accidentally pause or stop the process.
